Composition Writing Workshop

The “Composition Writing: A Visual, Dramatic, and Creative Approach” Workshop is a one-session workshop that aims to expose educators/students to a fun and engaging way of composing a story.

Targeted Audience

·      Students aged 10–12; or

·      Educators/Caregivers of children in the above age group

Description

In this highly interactive, 3-hour workshop, participants will be introduced to the story writing process through the use of visual aids, dramatic enactment, and creative visualisation.

These processes not only inject fun and creativity into the writing experience, but also offer students visual and kinaesthetic stimulation to motivate them to engage in the writing process.

Participants, working in small groups, will compose a story, under the trainers guidance:

·      Part 1. Story conception: Putting together a map of the story development
·      Part 2. Creative visualisation: Composing evocative descriptions of characters and settings through re-enactment
·      Part 3. Dramatic elements: Injecting dialogue, movement, and pace
·      Part 4. Revision: Making the story shine

Each group will then present their story to the rest of the class.
